This double package is by far the most eclectic and ambitious Techno mix I’ve heard in a long time. Forget the multitude of Shranz and other such romping (but kinda monotonous) mixes available right now, this is how Techno should sound — well CD 1 anyway. CD 2 is fine, starting on an Electro tip with the fantastic ‘Bright Lights Fading’ by Slam definitely a stand out track. It progresses through to some harder offerings from the likes of Hiroaki Lizuka and Christian Varela, but fades out a little towards the end. CD 1 however is an absolute breath of fresh air. It’s the Techno equivalent of Liquid Funk. Laid back and soaked in a lazy minimal haze, it really did make the speakers in my car come alive. It sounds very influenced by the Richie Hawtin mixes we’ve heard in the past, but it’s great to hear someone else’s attempt at creating a similar aura and pulling it off. The mixing is top notch as Bailey introduces one Funky bassline after another, whilst delving into an abyss of Techno Jazz. After Stella Artois this is my new favourite Belgian export! K1
